    Background

The Marquette University School of Dentistry is a private university located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The school began as the Dental Department of the Milwaukee Medical College which opened in 1894. In 1907, the Milwaukee Medical College became affiliated with Marquette College and in 1920 the first dental building was established for the growing school. In 2002 a new dental facility was completed and in 2013 the class expanded from 80 to 100 students thanks to a 40,000-square-foot expansion. Marquette remains as Wisconsin’s only dental school and each year it admits 50 Wisconsin residents and 50 non-residents to its dental program.

The Marquette University School of Dentistry offers specialty training in advanced general denistiry, endodontics, orthodontics, periodontics, and prosthodontics. The school treats underserved patients at seven clinics spread throughout the state and sees 26,000 patients annually, serving 64 of the state’s total 72 counties.

    Interviewing

The Admissions Committee selects which candidates it wants to interview and extends interview invitations beginning in early September. The interviews take place annually in October and November. Interviews are offered by invitation only. It is extremely difficult for an applicant to be admitted if he/she has not been interviewed during the fall interview cycle. Occasionally (if necessary) the Admissions Committee will do additional interviews in the spring. It is possible to be added to the alternate pool without an interview.

    Mission

The Marquette University School of Dentistry is committed to excellence in education, research and service, resulting in high quality oral health care.
